Artist Statement Mia Fan is a Hong Kong-Australian contemporary ink artist whose practice merges traditional Chinese techniques with modern themes. Trained in Fine Art at the University of East London, she furthered her understanding of art history with a postgraduate degree from the University of South Africa. Her studies in Chinese painting at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art in Singapore are evident in her work, where she seamlessly blends delicate ink techniques with contemporary sensibilities.

Mia’s work explores themes of identity, heritage, and the immigrant experience, reinterpreting traditional Chinese aesthetics through a contemporary lens. Her practice has been recognised with accolades including the Don Dunstan Foundation Award, The Advertiser Contemporary Art Award, the Guildhouse Artist's Choice Award, and as the Adelaide Fringe Poster Competition.
