Lisa Crowder
Interconnection with nature is vital for life. Rewilding myself in the natural world stimulates my senses, calms my mind, and activates my creative energy. Creating and observing my own garden space, takes me to the same place as when I practise art. My garden studio provides immediate access to the phenomena of the natural and intertwining world.
Bringing my work into an indoor or built environment allows viewers to reconnect to take note of the everyday, awe-inspiring experiences. I explore degrees of abstraction of the forms, compositions and colour palettes and my spontaneous processes allow me to loosen my grip on outcomes. A drawing may become a painting, a sculpture, or installation. One unwavering constant is in my selection of materials and media, as I am compelled to minimise the impact upon the environment. Natural fibres infused with botanical pigments are liberated from a stretcher or picture frame and flowing forms leap from the canvas to explore the surrounding spaces.
I invite visitors to pause, observe and breathe in my work ….
