Artist Statement In the realm of artistic expression, I am Ruby Donovan, and my art name is "artbyrd," I delve into my passion as an assemblage artist. Nature serves as my canvas, with leaves, shells, seaweed, bark, or whatever takes my eye becoming the raw materials for my creations. These organic elements, each unique and captivating, guide me in the pursuit of creating art that resonates with the inherent beauty of the natural world. Beyond the artistic pursuit, I'm a palliative care nurse navigating the gentle balance between life and it’s inevitable transition. However, it's my art that brings solace and inspiration. The vast landscapes of South Australia, with their wide horizons and tranquil beauty, offer me respite from the demands of the profession. The serenity of these landscapes fuels my creative spirit, infusing my art with a sense of calm and contemplation. Crafting these assemblages is not merely an artistic endeavour; it is a personal journey of finding joy and meaning in the act of creation. Witnessing others derive pleasure from my work brings a sense of fulfilment that goes beyond the confines of artistic expression.
