Calista Cox
Calista is a young Adelaide based painter who has been creating things her whole life. Although not certified with any formal qualifications, this does not stop her from committing paint to page. Like a child she is captivated by the application of colour which sometimes leads her to ignore basic colour theory. This can subsequently lead to success or failure in creating harmonious artworks. She works mainly in watercolour and gouache and patiently adds lines to her paper before the application of paint. However, continuous creation of artworks has compelled her to enjoy the sketching process. Calista captures landscapes in watercolour and achieves playful paintings through her unconventional application of colour and loose sketches. Calista would like to think that her art makes people happy and reminds them to have fun. She knows that in real life everything isn't as bright as her colours, but is it not the purpose of art?
