Gina ALLAIN
Exhibition
View body-masks, masks and mermaids created from ghostnets and other marine debris.
Gina Allain transforms these materials into aesthetically pleasing artworks that, while speaking for themselves, also draws attention to the problems that these plastic materials are creating for the oceans, its inhabitants and all life on the planet.
Gina Allain loves the process of collecting these materials from beaches and waterways wherever she is in the world because it helps to both decrease the problems they create and provides materials for her artwork. She finds the practice of collecting and creating the artworks meditative.
This exhibition is about masking and makes the connection that the oceans themselves mask what lies within their depths.
