Words and Pictures is a combination of artists' reoccurring fascination with written words, and the method of displaying work in such a way that it more involves the viewer. Photos, paintings, drawings, sculpture, pastel and collage can be fortified with words. Whether using letters, quotations, reports, articles, poems, prose or advertisements, the artists have matched the words with pictures. Whichever way the words are interpreted, the artist uses language to provoke us into introspective thought, exclamation or just a quick chuckle. Twenty one artists display their interpretation of the brief in watercolour, acrylic, oil and pastels, woodcarving, metal sculpture plus more.
