Publican John Jagt sat back to quietly contemplate his first few oil pastel attempts, and muttered, “I’m not weird enough…. Not even close.” 

It’s become a catchphrase for the literal family of Macclesfield artists represented in this exhibition. They’ve lived together, worked together, performed music together, and now they’re making art together…at least, sort of. They tend to view it more as a competition.

NOT EVEN CLOSE is their first exhibition. John, Alana, Lucie and Jacob jostle for space on the walls of the family pub - the beautiful and historic Three Brothers Arms in Macclesfield. Across a range of mediums, the artists explore abstraction, impressionism and surrealism. The family Jagt are joined in this show by local hanger-on Luke Eygenraam, who is also exhibiting for the first time.

We invite you to picturesque Macclesfield, and the gorgeous Three Brothers Arms (yeah, the ‘artsy’ pub), where you can grab a spot by the fire, a nourishing meal, a heady local wine, and then ask yourself: “am I weird enough?”
