Pen and Ink drawings (28 x 38 cm) of "Munda" Lake Frome National Park adjoins the Vulkathunha - Gammon Range National Park, Northern Flinders. Here many of the areas are included in the proposed, UNESCO World Heritage Listings.
“Munda” 100 km long and 40 km wide lies mostly below sea level and is visible from many high and low points. This crusty salt lake, with a few sandy islands and struggling vegetation, is so white that this whitness is used by Satellites to calibrate their cameras.
“Munda" is a pen and ink challenge. I walked about 1km out on the Lake, planted my seat and drew the lonely glaringly white surface. I climbed Mount Warren-Hastings, Coulthard's Lookout, Balcanoona Lookout, Balcanoona Plateau and the sand hills, to draw “Munda.” These pen and ink drawings were created on site, with the date and GPS of where I sat visible in the drawing.
