My work explores notions of female agency and ageing from the perspective of my own journey, charting the paradoxes and complexities of getting older. My painting, 'Calling Time' 2024 depicts a sensuous vintage slip, a metaphor for the older woman, emerging from the shadows of a darkened wardrobe. Paint handling with seamless transitions create the effect of satin, a desirable material. My work serves to call out the negative narrative of decline, bestow value and open discourse about ageing and gender.
