I've had 3 painting outbursts in the past 50 years. The first, in the 1970s, saw an outpouring of spontaneous reactions to my imagination and my rural location. The second in the 1990s saw my art reflect my reading and resulted in a series of narrative history paintings which, when exhibited, led to contracts to write and illustrate a series of Australian histories told through narrative illustrations. The latest burst has occurred since 1 January 2025. What will the canvases reveal about my current interests and artistic development? My shed studio is small but some of my ideas, I think, are bigger than small.
