The Arkaroola Wildlife Sanctuary forms part of a bid for World Heritage Status for the Northern Flinders Ranges.
In 2009 the Scientific Expedition Group (SEG) carried out a biodiversity survey of the Arkaroola Wildlife Sanctuary. It gave Arkaroola scientific data that helped stop mining in the sanctuary.
After two wet years following the Millennium Drought SEG, was invited to to return to Arkaroola in 2011 and carry out another survey.
Vincent has made pen and ink drawings of the various sites in both 2009 and 2011.
As both a scientist (Myrmecologist, BSc from Canterbury, NZ) and as an artist (Printmaker & Drawing, BAFA, Underdale, SA) and as a member of SEG since 2007, I have had the opportunity to identify ants and other insects found at the various survey sites. As part of my art I have had the privilege of being able to make many pen and ink drawings of the sites and other magnificent views in the Flinders Ranges, especially along the "Ridge Top Tour” private road. These are unique places I would never have been able to explore and illustrate by myself.
As volunteers, the members of SEG carried out a follow up survey in September 2024, and thus my exhibition is entitled "Fifteen Years On: Arkaroola Wildlife Sanctuary
Revisited".
