VINO NERO SACRO is an exploration of the sacred nature of art, family, and society through the eyes of a first generation Italian Australian. My mother and father were post war immigrants from the North of Italy. They’d both seen the ravages of war. My father’s migration status was: political refugee. The images of crushed grapes, the juice, and the fermentation are metaphors and a link between the past and present, between Italy and South Australia; between the dreams, the memories and the hopes of the next generation.
