The Embroiderers’ Guild of SA - Port Pirie Branch began in 1973 and is an affiliated country branch of The Embroiderers’ Guild of SA who have headquarters in Adelaide. The branch continues to meet regularly with a strong membership who enjoy learning and spending time together doing embroidery.
It continues its tradition of teaching and learning all aspects of embroidery techniques from around the world.
Some of these techniques include Hardanger from Norway, Schwalm from Germany, Drawn thread from Italy, Cross Stitch designs from traditional costumes in Europe and whitework of various kinds.
Members embrace learning of new techniques with regular workshops throughout the year. Some of these workshop pieces along with many other beautiful works can be seen in the current exhibition.
