Denim & Lace is designed to make the world a better place by highlighting the value of repurposing & decreasing the volume of textiles ending up in landfill. Whether it be the uniquely crafted doileys created by incredible skilled artisans of a previous generation in the lace curtain "As time goes by" which looks stunning in front of a window. What will be the fate of these beautiful mementoes, when we leave this mortal coil? The detailed tapestry, which inspired the Shabby Chic jacket, as it & 11 others were destined for landfill - the jacket also was sourced from an op shop. Repurposed lace has been dyed to compliment the vintage images & quirky images complete the picture. Indigo Rose is a Kelly couture design utilising 2 repurposed garments redesigned, slashed & godets inserted,, with vintage trims, dyed lace, quirky text, & other embellishments with a special tribute to Vivienne Westwood adorning the rear of the tunic. Indigo Rose is the ultimate wearable art garment.
My hope with Denim & Lace is to inspire viewers to look at vintage clothing with fresh eyes to give each cherished piece a new life to reflect their personality. Every item saved is a big step in the right direction to save our precious planet.
