Trees are disappearing all around me, so I want to portray their solemn quiet beauty.
The eucalypts in these works were mostly accessed on foot along the River Torrens or by bus to various parks around Adelaide. The public transport or pathway to access these settings become the titles of the work E.g. (Bus H22, train to Belair). I work in soft pastels on butchers’ paper, affixed to various boards of unwanted second-hand prints. The frames are upcycled timber from gates and fences and then pallets found on the street. I intend that the wood of the frames is an ironic compliment to the sheer incredible complexity of the trees themselves.
