In a fast moving world where we often hold tightly to permanence, this exhibition invites audiences to pause and reflect on the transient nature of existence.

Presented during the SALA Festival by the Tibetan Buddhist Institute, the exhibition allows visitors to witness the creation and ritual dissolution of a traditional Tibetan Buddhist sand mandala by visiting Monks from Sera Jey, an ancient practice embodying impermanence, compassion and wisdom. The exhibition features Adelaide artist Benjamin Liew's time lapse documentation of the mandala's creation and dissolution, as well as his 2025 portrait of Ling Rinpoche at Tibetan Buddhist Institute.

Alongside the mandala, Benjamin Liew presents "Transient Nature", a contemplative photography exhibition exploring transience through evocative imagery of ancient architecture and cultural memory. Together, the works create a powerful dialogue between tradition and contemporary art, offering a deeply reflective and culturally enriching experience. Benjamin brings a depth of cultural understanding and authenticity to the exhibition.

Over several days, visitors can witness the intricate mandala process and reflect on its themes of impermanence, emptiness, compassion and wisdom. A rich cultural artwork, culminating in a blessing ceremony and mantra dismantling on Sunday 16th August 2pm - 4pm.
