Birdlife observed through the lens becomes expressive watercolour.
Breath of Nature is a series of contemporary watercolour paintings inspired by the artist’s own bird photography and the everyday wildlife surrounding her rural home.
Observed moments captured through the camera become the starting point for works that move between representation and interpretation. Through fluid washes, layered colour and expressive mark-making, the paintings shift beyond simple depiction toward a semi-abstract realist language.
Birds appear as both subject and presence, fleeting visitors that animate the landscape and mark the changing seasons. The works reflect a quiet attentiveness to the natural world, where observation, memory and atmosphere intertwine.
In this way, the paintings explore how photography captures a moment, while watercolour allows that moment to breathe, soften and evolve.
