Beyond the Nest
An exploration of connection, instinct, and transformation.

In 'Beyond the Nest', the familiar becomes symbolic. This evocative collection brings together a series of mixed-media and painterly works where birds are more than subjects—they are storytellers, guardians, and reflections of the human experience.
From delicate orchard scenes alive with soft light and community, to striking surreal portraits where wings emerge from within, each piece navigates the tension between fragility and strength. A lone figure adorned with dark feathers suggests protection and inner duality, while vibrant flocks perched among fruit-laden branches evoke belonging, abundance, and shared existence.
Fluid washes of colour and layered textures give rise to dreamlike landscapes—flamingos dissolve into blush-toned skies, tropical foliage merges with the human silhouette, and a solitary pelican stands resilient against weathered surfaces. These works move seamlessly between realism and imagination, echoing the ways we adapt, connect, and evolve.
Throughout the exhibition, birds act as quiet witnesses—symbols of freedom, vulnerability, migration, and home. Whether grounded or in flight, they mirror our own search for identity and place.
Birds of a Feather invites viewers to reflect on what it means to belong—and what it takes to break away.
