Faith Lutheran College Year 10 Visual Arts students present a series of mixed media portraits created in response to the works of Australian contemporary artists, Kathryn Del Barton, and Ben Quilty. These artists challenge traditional approaches to portraiture. Students have explored not only mediums but the concept of portrayal of identity and how it can be transformed through expressive techniques with imaginative interpretation.

Students combine intricate patterning, bold line work and deliberately unnatural colour palettes. These layered approaches create portraits that move beyond realism. The result is a compelling collection of portraits that are both familiar and surreal, inviting viewers to reconsider how identity can be seen, felt, and expressed.
