Independent Learning Centre (ILC) Stobie Pole Project Artists
Exhibition
Students from the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) have transformed Stobie Poles along Alexander Street in Mount Gambier into vibrant public artworks, creating a meaningful connection between young people and their community.
Drawing inspiration from local Indigenous flora and fauna, the project provided students with a hands-on creative experience that encouraged them to explore and express artistic explorations and expression. Through this process, students not only developed artistic skills but also deepened their connection to the natural environment and the community around them.
The completed series of artworks stands as a celebration of shared environments, culture, and collaboration. By bringing colour and creativity into the urban landscape, the project fosters community pride, invites public engagement, and highlights the powerful role of student voice in shaping shared, public spaces.
Join us for the official opening of this wonderful space Wednesday 26 August 1pm - 2pm Alexander Street carpark.
