Nine Lives explores feline mystique through a Filipino lens, weaving folklore, memory, and identity into richly detailed portraits. Drawing from personal nostalgia and cultural symbolism, the works reflect stories shaped by everyday life in the Philippines, where stray cats abound and are often silent witnesses to home, routine, and ritual, moving quietly through spaces of warmth, scarcity, affection, and neglect without ever fully belonging or intruding. The series also turns inward, using each feline subject as a mirror for introspection on human mortality, impermanence, and the quiet cycles of life. In their stillness, curiosity, and resilience, the cats become vessels for storytelling, bridging the seen and unseen, the remembered and imagined, and the fragile spaces between belonging, loss, and continuity.
