This series documents my family's travels through the National Parks of the Northern Territory. My aim was to create imagery that evokes the senses. The heat, the dry, the rich earth and even richer culture. Where the human element enriches the understanding of the environment, and vice versa. To gift memories to my children, visceral in nature, akin to how the natural environment has shaped my own childhood memories.

As adults we tend to be observational in nature, children however will immerse themselves in nature’s offerings. A hands-on exploration and discovery of the natural environment will provoke children into thought and action. When we simply see a beautiful flower, they will discover all the things they can do with the flower and subsequently deepen their connection to the land, in a way we as adults have perhaps, sadly outgrown.

Kakadu has been home to Aboriginal people for over 65,000 years. It is the oldest living culture on earth. I acknowledge the Bininj and Mungguy people as the traditional custodians of Kakadu, I acknowledge and pay my respects to the deep spiritual connection they share with the land, on which these images were created.
